South West Update

What will it look like if we really believe Mark 4:20? It'll mean that we'll take God's word seriously in our own lives, fighting for our joy in Christ as we rub our faces in God's ink. And as our hearts are warmed by the fire of the gospel we'll find ourselves brimming over to share that word with others.

I've been speaking at the Exeter CU Christianity Explored this term and I've been thrilled to see the questions people have been asking as we've opened up Mark's gospel and seen Jesus walk off the pages.

People have asked genuine questions and sought real answers which we've been able to offer them. Be praying for those students and for the many like them coming in to similar contexts across the regions.

As I write this I'm tucked away in a Starbucks, sheltered from the cold winter wind, having just come from a Lunchbar at Bath University's autumn mission week where Mike Reeves, who served us so well at Transformission in October, has just spoken to a crowded room on "How Atheists Are Right" - debunking the myth of a dictator in the sky, the heavenly Hitler, in whom, like the New Atheists, we also don't believe. Why not?

Because we believe in the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit who are a family forever loving one another and giving themselves to us, leading us to a life of self-giving love for our Christian brothers and sisters, and to extending the kingdom of God on our campuses. It's only as we encounter the relational God in his relational revelation of himself that we'll see things change. And it's happening.
